The historic Mop Fair returned to Tewkesbury this weekend with rides, food and town-centre road closures.
Tewkesbury's historic Mop Fair returned this weekend with more than 50 attractions spread through the town centre.
Tewkesbury Borough Council promoted a mix of traditional family rides, larger fairground attractions, food and stalls. The event ran on Friday 9 October and Saturday 10 October, with an official opening ceremony at The Cross.
The fair traces its history to autumn hiring events when workers displayed tools linked to their trade while looking for employment. The modern event retains the name while functioning as a large town-centre fair.
Temporary road and car park restrictions were introduced to allow the event to operate. Shops, cafés, pubs and restaurants were encouraged to remain open during the fair.
