Hartpury University researchers have presented a group of equine studies at the British Equine Veterinary Association Congress.

The work covered areas including bridle pressure, polework, movement symmetry, back movement during different exercise types and the role of vets in owners' decisions about saddle fit.

Hartpury said the research presented at the congress has also been accepted for publication in the Equine Veterinary Journal. The projects involved university academics, a PhD candidate, former students and external collaborators.

The university says applied equine research is intended to support practical decision-making around horse welfare, performance and rehabilitation. It also gives students exposure to current research while studying.
