Gloucester Rugby Charitable Foundation and The BUSY Group have celebrated the launch of an esports-based alternative education provision in Gloucester.
A new alternative education provision using esports and digital skills has launched through a partnership between Gloucester Rugby Charitable Foundation and The BUSY Group.
The project is based at Gloucester Rugby's High Performance Centre and is designed for young people who may benefit from a different route back into learning. The partners say it combines accredited study, personal development and esports-related qualifications.
The original partnership plans described the provision as supporting learners who have become disengaged from mainstream education. Esports is being used as an engagement tool alongside skills such as teamwork, communication, problem-solving and digital confidence.
The launch adds an education-focused project to the foundation's wider community work in Gloucestershire. The BUSY Group has said the aim is to help learners progress towards further education, training or employment.
