Gloucester City Council has secured funding through the national Good Food Neighbourhoods programme.

Gloucester City Council has secured £222,000 to support work aimed at improving access to healthy and affordable food across the city.

The funding comes through the national Good Food Neighbourhoods programme. Gloucester is one of 45 local authority areas expected to benefit from the £10 million programme.

Locally, the council says the money will build on Nourishing Gloucester, the city's partnership food strategy. Existing work includes community pantries and kitchens, food banks, growing projects and neighbourhood organisations.

The new funding is intended to strengthen links between services and make it easier for residents to find the type of food support that best fits their circumstances.
