Cheltenham is highlighting more than a decade of Purple Flag accreditation during a national awareness month for well-managed night-time destinations.
Cheltenham is marking 11 years of Purple Flag recognition as towns and cities across the UK and Ireland take part in Purple Flag Awareness Month.
The accreditation is awarded by the Association of Town & City Management and recognises places that demonstrate a well-managed, welcoming and diverse evening and night-time economy.
Cheltenham Borough Council says the town has held Purple Flag status since 2016. The scheme considers factors including safety, cleanliness, variety of venues and the overall experience offered to people visiting after dark.
The council is using the awareness month to highlight the role of restaurants, theatres, public spaces and local businesses in the town's evening economy. Purple Flag status is reviewed rather than being a one-off award, so continued partnership work is part of maintaining it.
